External Ethics Advisory Board

The External Ethics Advisory Board (EEAB) is an independent, multi-stakeholder body that provides external oversight and guidance. The objective of the Commission is to promote high ethical standards in research, specifically: 

  1. to guarantee the proper application of Ethical principles and procedures;
  2. to support questions and requests for clarification within the scope of the ethics;
  3. to mediate and resolve conflicts or situations that arise during the project.

 

Description and Scope of Action

The External Ethics Advisory Board (EEAB) plays a crucial advisory role that intersects with various aspects of a project. Regarding the scope of its actions, we can identify the following key roles: Consultative for Living Knowledges Labs; Consultative for TRANS-lighthouses Consortium Management; Consultative for Gender Equality and Diversity Focal Point; and Consultative for Tasks implementation.

Support to SC on ethical issues through: 
- analysis of requests submitted; 
- providing advice and recommendations, 
- sharing expertise and experience on ethics topics with SC members.
Consultative for Living Knowledges Labs Local Communities The ethical situation that occurs during the LKL functioning will be supported by the Ethics Manager in articulation with EEAB. 
Consultative for Gender Equality and Diversity Focal Point

Support for the gender focal point


Support to the GED on gender issues through: 
- defining its mandate and functioning;
- consultations on gender issues;
- assessing the completion of its mission.
Consultative for Work packages
 
Permanent support during task implementation The Ethics Manager will be permanently available to support partners on ethical issues during the implementation of tasks.

Modalities for Reporting

To address ethical concerns throughout the project's lifecycle, we've established multiple channels for stakeholders to submit their requests and inquiries. At the community level, individuals can engage either in person by using dedicated boxes at our Living Knowledge Labs, or online through our community website. For members within the Consortium, options include raising issues with the Steering Committee or communicating via email. The workflow for handling these ethical requests is illustrated in the figure below.
