International Conference Culturs
14 Nov 2024 • Coimbra, Portugal

This two-day international Conference is organized by the CES Thematic Line Urban Cultures, Sociabilities and Participation, aiming to critically and pragmatically explore the concept of "creative resilience" and its applications in academic research, civil society, and public policy.

The conference seeks to highlight the agency of cultural actors and practices, as well as the crucial need for equitable and inclusive civic participation in collective transitions towards regenerative and resilient strategies and actions. It acknowledges the necessity to reexamine culture-nature relationships in our lives, renew urban-rural cultural connections, and inform public dialogue on resilience, which guides contemporary public policies and interventions, such as the Portuguese Recovery and Resilience Plan (2023-2026), the European Union's Recovery and Resilience Mechanism, and other post-pandemic programs at the international level.

The event encompasses a series of sessions open for discussion and sharing of research experiences, roundtables, thematic panels, an exhibition, and complementary events throughout the week.

TRANS-lighthouses is one of the featured projects at the conference, where the project coordinators will lead several sessions, roundtables, and exhibitions.
