Enchanted Forest Cinema Session
24 Jul 2025 • Hell's Window Trail, Açores, Portugal.

As part of the project “TRANS-Lighthouses – More than green: Lighthouses of transformative nature-based solutions for inclusive communities” at the University of the Azores, and in collaboration with our partners, a special evening was held on July 24, 2025, for the entire academic community, providing the opportunity to attend a cinema session in the Enchanted Forest, on the Hell’s Window Trail, in Lagoa. The films shown were environmentally themed, with a particular focus on water, in partnership with Cine’Eco – Serra da Estrela International Environmental Film Festival and the “Water is Love” project. The event was also part of the national initiative Ciência Viva no Verão em Rede, which has been bringing science to the streets since 1996. The event offered an immersive experience where nature and culture came together under the stars. The initiative brought science closer to the public through art, cinema, and the experience of natural spaces, promoting environmental debate and the appreciation of the Azorean territory. During the session, participants also had the opportunity to reflect on the future and write a letter to their “future self”, making the experience even more personal, inspiring, and conscious of the importance of environmental preservation. This activity also raised awareness in the community about the connection between science, nature, and citizenship, reinforcing the idea that small individual actions can contribute to a more sustainable future
